I live in the country - not in the city. We have limited 3G coverage - which means I cant use this as the maps are not stored on the phone. I would be happy to pay for the maps if that was an option so that i can use this while out of mobile reception range.

@HybridFridge -_- by useless I mean we can "use" it, just not the way we should be able to. Take the iPod as another example of handicapped tech: it's basically a hard drive with media player capability, yet we cannot use it as such. Apple wants the user to depend on their software, just like Google makes the user depend on isp's for marketing purposes.

@74ryanwolf ...even if there was 3G coverage where I live, I would much prefer a GPS app over constantly having to rely on a data plan. Google Maps is designed to attract service providers, not to benefit users.
