In short, trade will be greatly affected if one of these nations struggle, and since the US is supposed to be the strongest of these 3, then failure of it's market could be terminal. Trying to fix the situation with a single currency won't necessarily work. It may just serve to bring the whole lot down.

@Domes509 It's not necessarily going to be introduced as the Amero. But there have been rational reasons to think that. The leaders of the 3 nations in questioned signed the NAFTA Agreement. Bush Snr. was the signatory for the US as the President at the time (December 1992). Yet here he is, the same month, saying to Sarah McClendon, a White House reporter: "If the people were to ever find out what we have done, we would be chased down the streets and lynched."For WHY George?
